Summer foods for healthy teeth

It’s hard to imagine the summer months without thinking about ice-cream, and cold treats, but in order to protect our smiles, we must avoid some those sugary treats. Here’s some foods that will keep your teeth healthy and strong!

 Teeth Friendly Summer Foods:

1) Fresh Fruit

Fruits like apples, pears, and carrots act like natural toothbrushes. Their rough texture helps clean your teeth by removing plaque and food particles. They also make your mouth produce saliva, which fights acids and prevents cavities. Plus, these fruits are full of vitamins and minerals that make your teeth and gums stronger. So, enjoy a crisp apple or some carrot sticks for a tasty and tooth-friendly snack

2) Calcium-Rich Foods

Yogurt and cheese are examples of foods packed with calcium and phosphorus, which help rebuild enamel and make your teeth stronger. Yogurt even has probiotics that keep your mouth’s bacteria in check, lowering the chances of cavities and gum issues. Treat yourself to some yogurt with berries or a cheese platter for a snack this summer!

3) Crunch Vegetables

Carrot sticks, celery, snap peas, broccoli, cauliflower, and cucumber have a crunch that can rival any potato chip. Raw vegetables are incredibly satisfying to eat—and healthy too!

Not only are they full of vitamins and minerals, but they also act like natural toothbrushes. With every crunch, raw vegetables scrub your teeth and stimulate saliva flow to wash away leftover food particles.

4) Leafy Greens for Optimal Oral Health

Leafy greens such as kale, spinach and lettuce are not only healthy for your body, but also your teeth and gums. They’re full of good materials like calcium and folic acid, which are good for both adults and children’s dental health. They make your enamel stronger, reduce inflammation, and keep your gums healthy.

5) Savoury dips

Savoury dips can encourage you and your family to eat more raw, crunchy vegetables. Furthermore, dips can be incredibly healthy by themselves. Hummus, for example, is full of protein, calcium, and essential nutrients.

Be sure to check the ingredients list if you’re buying your hummus straight from the store. Some brands sneak unnecessary sugar into their dips. Hummus is actually easy to make at home—all you need is tahini, chickpeas, garlic, lemon, and olive oil.

Additional Tips for maintaining a Healthy Summer Smile:
